CIPA readiness check
Nine short questions for a school, district or library: the filter, what it must block, the internet safety policy, the public meeting, adult disabling, audit records and the yearly certification. You get a gap list with a guide for each gap and a summary you can print for the E-Rate file. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is stored.
CIPA audit evidence checklist and internet safety policy template
A printable checklist of the records USAC can ask for in an audit, and an internet safety policy template in Word and PDF that covers every element CIPA requires.
New guides for libraries and the FCC's CIPA review
What library filtering costs, how to choose and switch filters, filtering in a small library with no IT staff, taking the decision to the board, E-Rate and CIPA for Tribal libraries, state library filtering laws, and what the FCC's 2026 CIPA review asks.
Weathervane: a monthly board report from your filter
Weathervane turns the activity your filter already sees into a board-ready PDF with your logo. It shows what the internet was used for, grouped into sixteen purposes such as learning, jobs, government services and library e-resources, with the change against the month before. It also shows when people were online, what the filter stopped, and your CIPA record for the month.
The report arrives by email on the first day of each month. In the dashboard you can pick any period, export to Excel or CSV, and create private links for board members that open without a sign-in. Under Settings you can add your logo and colour, or remove our name for a fully white-label report.
Weathervane costs $79 a month or $790 a year per site. Library systems and districts pay $149 a month or $1,490 a year for the whole system. Customization and changes to the report are included.
The pricing page now has a plan builder. Every plan starts with the CIPA Filter at $99 a month per site. Add Weathervane reports, AI Controls or App Control with one click, and the total updates as you go. Switch between monthly and yearly prices; yearly plans give you two months free.
When the plan looks right, continue to checkout to create your account and pay by PayPal or card. You can still add or remove options there. For several libraries or schools, a county or a district, the quote form below the builder gets you a quote within one business day. The same builder is on the hosted filter page.
Devices away from the network: now 10 cents per device a month
Library laptops, take-home iPads and hotspots can stay filtered when they leave your buildings. Each device gets its own private encrypted link to the filter, with the same rules as your network.
We lowered the price to $0.10 per device a month, or $1 per device a year, with a minimum of 25 devices. The rest of the filter is still priced per site, so there are no student or device counts to report. Devices away from the network are added to your plan after a short email.
AI Controls gives every network its own AI setting. Start from a ready policy for K-12 students, a library children's area or library adults, then change it by type or one tool at a time. The list covers more than 11,800 AI tools in 18 types and 165 subtypes, each with its type, its risk and whether it trains on what users type. The list is updated every day.
One switch blocks tools that train on what users type. A report shows the AI tools used on each network, with a block button on every row. Tools made for explicit images, nudify, deepfakes or uncensored chat are blocked in every ready policy. AI Controls costs $49 a month or $490 a year per site.
App Control turns your rules into ready block lists for your device management. Pick a preset for students, children or adults, choose app categories, age ratings and AI apps, then download a file for Jamf, Intune, Apple School Manager or Google Admin. Blocked apps cannot be installed or opened on supervised devices, in the building or at home.
More than 1 million App Store apps are categorized, plus more than 1,800 AI mobile apps checked by hand. On your network, the filter still blocks app traffic in blocked categories on every device, managed or not. In the dashboard it is the Mobile/iPad blocking page. App Control costs $29 a month or $290 a year per site.
Patron self-unblock: adults can unblock a website without staff
Adults no longer have to queue at the desk for a staff PIN. On a network with patron self-unblock, the block page asks the adult to confirm that they are 17 or older and need the site for research or another lawful purpose. One click opens it.
There are four ways to set it up: the whole adult network for 15, 30 or 60 minutes; one computer at a time, which ends when the patron logs off; one website for 60 minutes; and a secure block page that shows the buttons on https websites too. Teen computers can only open the extra categories your library blocks by choice, never adult content.
VPN and proxy sites, phishing and malware, newly registered domains, your own block list and the AI tools you block always stay blocked. Every unblock appears on the Activity page, in the bypass log and in the monthly report. The staff PIN keeps working as before.
The setup file for per-computer filtering now covers Firefox as well as Chrome and Edge. In Firefox it sets the computer's own encrypted DNS link and locks it, adds the Unblock a website bookmark, and shows the bookmarks bar. It also lets Firefox trust your library's block page certificate from Windows, which the secure block page needs.
You run the file once per computer, or roll out the same settings with Group Policy.
